record update #2 . . .

hello friends.  happy november.  we hope you all have been enjoying football and playoff baseball and halloween etc.  in our band we had one luigi, one peter pan, one michael jackson and two grinches (they didn’t dress up).  you should guess who’s who.

as far as the record, things are going well.  we’re having a blast with our 9 person recording family.  we’ve set up a 10-week madden league, we lay in a camouflage hammock, and we overuse football analogies.  we may be sports geeks, but i assure you that we are making some music too.

we skipped out to athens, GA last week and had a great time with all the bulldogs and non-bulldogs out there.  we’ll also be in houston next weekend at rice university, so if you’re local, we’ll see you there.

here’s two random pictures from outside the studio.  we’ll have some more soon.

record update #1 . . .

i’ve numbered this ‘record update #1’ to imply that there will be more updates throughout the rest of the year. we just finished a week of pre-production in the shadow of the 405. it was a snug little room as you’ll see below, but the perfect space for what we needed to do. the actual record itself starts in about 2 weeks so we’ll post more pics and videos when that happens. we also just got back from a show at tulane university (which was a blast) and a show at university of iowa (which was a blast as well). thanks to everyone who braved the cold, the humid, the parades and the muddy grass to see us. see ya

just

a couple of pics from wednesday’s show in central park.  keep an eye out on PBS for the special called “The National Park: America’s Best Idea.”  the set that we played with counting crows isn’t in the broadcast, but we did hop onstage for the finale led by peter and paul from peter, paul and mary.

it was an incredible honor to be on a stage with legendary musicians like carole king, alison krauss, jose feliciano etc., and one that we won’t forget.
